He wants to buy my item off the classifieds here. Only by pay-pal. rediff.com is in India.

Sounded phishy, so I googled his email addy. Apparently he will supply a pay-pal link, to make it easy for you. The link is a phoney, to get your financial info.

dedaveray@rediffmail.com is his email address, maybe spammers will pick it up here?
