The lower bushing in Ray's kits is push in, friction fit. I drill/tap the bushing 2 places, 180 degrees apart. I then use a .250" long screw thru the outer column, into the bushing. Screw is retained with red lock tite.
On my trucks, I cut the outer column quite close to the engine side of the fire wall.
I fab a lower column retainer to secure the lower end of the column from moving. The inner shaft then goes to the U joint at the Saginaw Reverse Rotation PS Box.
