I got it out this afternoon. I bought a cylindrical rare earth magnet with 95 lbs. worth of pull, electrical taped it to an oak dowel, shoved it in there, heard somewhat of a suction noise and a thump, pulled very slowly, and there she was! Like taking a finger out of a glove. Used the same magnet/dowel combo to clean up the shrapnel. Only problem is this magnet wants to stick to everything in sight. Thank you everyone for the most appreciated advice.
