That's about the same as the rule that you can't have a dog with you while deer hunting. But suppose you're just walking through the wood with your dog during deer season? How about with your dog and your gun, but you're not hunting? Seems like a tough one to enforce. I'm going to ask my local source about that "uncased firearm" rule, because the way I read the Idaho concealed weapon law, it's not only legal to carry a gun "while engaged in ... any lawful outdoor activity", but it's legal to carry it concealed without a concealed carry permit so long as you're outside the city limits of any incorporated city.
