My father was also in the marine corps. After making it through the Tarawa landing (first wave) without getting wounded he was shot be a sniper on Siapan. Shot went in on left upper arm and exited in middle of back about 3 inches from the spine. He has passed away, now one of the greatest generation. We have a lot to learn from them.
