Talked to my welding guy today. The plant in Kentucky that manufactured calcium carbide for acetylene production is not going to be rebuilt.
The price is expected to rise substantially in the coming weeks.
In some locations customers are already being denied acetylene and instead are being urged to transition to propylene for their requirements.
