I did an under-floor vacuum boosted dual.
In problem with vacuum instead of hydro is that the vacuum booster inhales air when it works. Not a good thing when under water, or in general muck. So like the stock hydra-vac system, I had to run a vent into the cab. Took some thinking and mods, but that is what the bright blue boot is all about.
On the truck I'm currently building, I may mount a p/s system forward of the axle, leaving more room for retrofitting a master system in the stock location. So far it is just at the head scratching stage, but the box off my neighbor's blazer looks like a possiblility. Mount it outside the frame, lots of length to mess with column angle and locatioon. Would need to move the shock to behind the axle. But that all is for later, after the frame is ready for re-assembly.
