Several years ago a friend of mine heated up his brakes by driving with the MICO brake lock switched on. Yeah, stupid thing to do, but possible. To avoid doing this myself, I have added a second stop light switch in the system. I use the factory locate switch for the MICO, since it retains pressure when the lever is locked on. For the stop lights, I added a tee in the line going to the lever lock itself. Both switches activate when the brakes are applied, and only the one wired to the warning light stays on when the switch is set.
