Thanks Tom. The 1 1/4" nuts are only 1/4" thick in the area of the hex head part. There is in the center, around the hole, a raised circular shoulder, about 1/8" thick, with knurling around the perimeter. There are 2 of these. Maybe there was rubber or fiber at some point, that has worn away. JH
