Well the time has finally come. Tomorrow I am driving to Rechester NY to meet up with a longtime friend. We will drive down to Tennessee and drop the car off at Lou in Tennessee' shop. Then meeting up with Scott Youngblood who will drive us down to Dahlonega Georgia to a place called Hikers Hostel. If you havent figured it out yet, thats real close the the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail! We should be met there by Mike's Daughter. Mike and his Daughter Melissa are hiking the entire AT. I will be hiking along with them for the first two weeks. Getting off in Tennessee, a distance of just over 200 miles. Lou has graciously arrainged for a friend of his to pick me up and deliver me back to the car. Should be a load of fun. Got my pack all set, it weighed in at a doable 35 pounds, but it will swell to 40 with water and a couple of last minute add ins.
I owe a HUGE thanks to Lou, for providing both a place to stash the car in Tennessee, and for coordinating my ride back to the car. And another Huge thanks to Scott Youngblood who is taking a day off work, and driving about 150 miles from Georgia to pick us up and bring us to the Hostel in Dahlonega. I am astounded at both of your generosity.
I will have very limited access to the internet for the next 3 weeks, but will check in and say hi as I can.
Catch you later,
Tim
