Why would he be likely to tip the tractor over backwards doing this? The log would raise the rear up in the air as it walked forward, but assuming the log isn't ridiculously long, the weight is still well forward of the wheel. Tractors flip backwards due to drawbar pull, but he's already uncoupled whatever implement (a trailer?) he had on there. It's definitely a time to be careful, but I just don't see the geometry working out to flip the tractor.
