OT Unknown object identification help

Does anyone know what this is? I cannot find a name or a number anywhere on it. My guess is a lantern of some description, but as to how it actually works or what kind of fuel (kerosene??) it takes I have no idea. The inside is very clean the valve works and the pump makes pressure.
