Yes, I think that is interesting. I was not aware that it was possible to "doctor" a dead gel type battery. I would offer them scrap value for them, just to be fair. Do you have a wide-range manually-adjustable charger? I'd be curious to hear what you discover. In my experience it's best to crank up (or down) the voltage as needed to get them to start accepting a charge and then once they've stabilized a bit, leave them on a light charge (less than 5 amps) for a long time.
