The issue is real, but that site spins it pretty hysterically. The issue is that there are a lot of US surplus M1 Garand and Carbine rifles in Korea and dealers would like to import and sell them in the US. Existing regulations prohibit re-importation of most US military equipment. It's not so much that Obama has "banned" the importation of these guns, but that he hasn't granted them an exception. I'd like to see the ban lifted, because the Garand is the powerwagon of rifles, and the last beautiful military rifle. Some other President could order them all be destroyed, as Clinton did with large numbers of M14s, which are essentially select-fire Garands.
It would be nice to know what's the most effective way to lobby the government to allow these M1s to be returned to the US where they were built, rather than read a bunch of histrionics and scare-mongering that is unlikely to do any good.
