I don't now that Scouts ever came with 2.73s but Wagoneers came with 2.73 Dana 44s. I've got two sets of 2.73 gears and carriers loose from the housings from my Wagoneer when I added air lockers. They'd definitley be cheaper to ship that axles. I do want Mike's 3.08 gears for my Scout. How much Mike? : )

My 4bt driving experience is from my Wagoneer with 2.73 gears and 235 75 15s. The 4bt runs out of RPMs about 82 mph. It's a great cruiser, and I think there is a lot of potential for more power and RPMS with tuning.

I was worried less about the angle of the driveshaft than the fact that all the power to the rear wheels has to be transfered through the gears of the tranfercase. Don't people switch to a centered rear output on Dodges to reduce friction, heat, wear, and drag in the transfercase on the highway? I wondered if the same would be true for the Dana 18?
