Growing up I watched my neighbor Mr. Means rebuilt a engine for his 37 Chevy. It had babbit rod bearings. He sent them away to be refurbished. No inserts. Maybe that is the zinc connection on the Chevys. Would zinc extend the life of that type bearing? I dont think the Dodges ever used that type of bearing.
