I brought my truck in for some warranty work and an oil change on Monday. They do not carry synthetic oil so I brought my own.
While I'm waiting in the customer lounge the service writer comes up and says "Mr. Scholz, we can't use the oil you brought us". So i asked why not? "You brought 5-30, the manufacturer recomends 5-20, if we put that oil in it will 'blow' the engine" ??? I sat there for a few seconds in disbelief and then asked slowly, so what exactly is going to 'blow' on my engine if I use 5-30 synthetic oil instead of 5-20 parifin based oil? His response "well OK we will use your oil, but you have to sign on the service order that you brought the wrong oil"? And my wife asks me why I waste time changing my own oil.
