Doing a run to Sausalito from BC

No truck , just a Honda which I hope will hold together for the trip . Changed the oil , rotated the tires and had them balanced and I replaced both front CV joints which were fine when I looked in August .Mostly traveling I5 . Is there any surplus military places near Sausalito . If my car does explode on the highway is there any tips I should follow ?
hoping it will only take 2 days down and 2 return with a few days to relax when i get there .
