I don't think the 383 is very common. I have one in my '71 truck, but can't really remember seeing many others.
Mine is a "Camper Special". with the Adventurer package. It makes sense that the bigger engine would be more likely found in the high-end trucks.
I doubt that the big engine adds much, if anything, to the price of the used truck.
There is a Dodge sweptline web site that you might check out. There is a small, but loyal following for these trucks, but condition is everything.
