I've done it both ways and the dynamat was about $50.00 more in the end, but the "equivelant brand" I used wasn't near as good, and didn't stick as well. I also used Gater guard in one years back, that was a huge mistake, now I have to grind it out and reapply dyna mat. I've built several hotrods for people, and learned the hard way.
