I have no doubt I can be stupid too, but with the clutch adjustment I adjusted the linkage clevises so they are farther apart. This I believe will allow me to get more "release" from the pressure plate. I tried the clutch plate facing both directions and it only fits one way (the boss on the splined hub projects too far if I face it towards the flywheel it touches the pilot bushing).
The throw out bearing matched the old one well but i did not check the run-out of the clutch disk. I will take it apart and do a more thorough comparison between the old and new pressure plates as well. Thanks
