Here's the simplest way, the way they did it in Europe before engines, motors, Power Wagons, etc
Two skids connected by a heavy rope or cable. One skid on top, one on the bottom. A pulley on top. Each skid platform has a water tank (say 300-500 gallons), plus room to place cargo, lumber, etc.
To move the skids, place the cargo on the bottom skid, and make sure that water tank is empty. Fill the water tank on top with water. Gravity makes the top skid go down while dragging the cargo to the top. to move the next load up, drain the now bottom tank, and fill the top tank.
If you have a spring or creek nearby, you are in business!!!!
