If the front is a tiny bit faster than the rear (numerically lower = faster), like 4.88 vs 4.89 or 5.83 vs 5.86 or 5.87, it's nice. The other way around (rear faster than front is NOT nice. On ice the latter situation tends to push the rear faster and the truck wants to switch ends when in 4WD. When the front is faster than the rear, it tnds to be directionally stable on ice in 4WD.
The same objective can be accomplished with numerically equal diffs. Simply run your newest tires in front.
A difference much over 1% will cause excessive drivetrain windup.
