Attention Trannie and PTO Experts.....

I have NP540 5 speed Truck trannie here that has a PTO on it. I see that the trans has PTO Ports on both sides...Is is possible to switch the PTO from side to side? Could I take it off one side and run it on the other? Thanks for the Help.
