I've been banging my head for awhile with other projects, and got really frosterated with one particular Mitsumbitchy V6 that I've had to put new heads on. I'm finally at the end of my rope so I go outside and take a few breaths. I look over at the snow covered '52 that I just got that is'nt running. A few weeks ago I pulled the plugs and dumped Marvel Mystery oil down the holes and re installed the plugs. I also put a new battery in it and fixed some faulty ignition wiring.
"well, my day cant get any worse so what the heck."
I push 1.5 -2 feet of wet snow off the hood and cowl. I hook up the battery and shoot some starting fluid and a little gas down the carb. Hop in the cab turn the key on and thumb the starter..... holy cow, it coughed, then ran for a few seconds!!! put a little more gas down the carb, thumb the starter... It runs for a few seconds... something must be wrong because the truck is starving for gas. I pull the top off the carb, no wonder... It's a fresh rebuild and the guy before did'nt set the float correctly, nothing a flat screwdriver wont fix. Top back on the carb and another thumb of the starter button... Vrroommm!!!! It Starts!!! And runs really good at that! Something is wrong with the accelerator pump though because when I blip the throttle real quick it dies, but when I gradually increase throttle speed it runs right up.
I just sit and listen to it idle.. Happiness.
