I have the parts and a spare axle disassembled waiting to start rebuilding mine.After your post I went to look at mine then my service manual which states in the reassembly sec.,#(28)Assemble the complete shaft assemblies and pack the universal joint with chassis lubricant before the assemblies are inserted in the axle housing.(29)Then,start the longshaft , carefully , through the oil seal and insert the entire assembly as a unit into the housing.
Previous paragraphs assume the outer knuckle is in place when this is to be done and that the felt is to be saturated with oil abd assembled before the insertion of the universal joint.
