These are the two cylinders that are used:
- 544
- 785 w/power brakes
If you're getting new or rebuilt, they could have been on the shelf for quite some time. Take apart and rebuild. The 544 is used in the PW and is a good MC. But to answer your question, yes another MC could be made to work. I would try rebuilding first.
