1947 Power Wagon Line Truck

My electric coop has a line truck that was use for parades etc. We are wanting to improve the drivability of it by putting in a V8/automatic combination. Does anyone know of a kit to make the installation easier than reinventing the wheel. Is there a small block chevy kit out there? Parts seem to be so much less expensive then going the Mopar route. I would appreciate any advice. Thank you
