I blasted mine and then used Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer, then Rustoleum Gloss black. I sealed a few rust spots with RTV black silicone.
Brought the frame to the glass shop the other day for him to install and seal in the glass. He said it was one of the best windshield finishes he's seen in awhile, and said I made the right choice in using those products. He said he would have recommended the same if I had asked him before.
