I have had the same results with por. I painted a trailer and my m37 frame with it, and after a few weeks it started to flake off. It is not made to stick to clean metal. The more rust and rough the metal is, the better it will stick. My opinion is it is way over price for what it does. If the metal is clean, use a etching primer with a decent paint over it. I used a napa brand and was very pleased.
