7.5 HP, 4 cylinder, 120 gallon tank compressor, Gun is Ingersol Rand 1/2" rated 600 Foot Pounds at full power in reverse. Gun running at 100 pounds pressure on Low setting. No published spec of torque on Low or Med power. I dont time the shot. Once I went thru the heat and wax, I set the gun on Low Power and rattled her back and forth for a few 'untimed' seconds. Did this a few times. Then heat again if you feel its needed and ad more wax. Then I went to med power and rattled her back and forth again. Once the bolt started moving well, I hit her at full power and out she came. Like you mentioned, its just feel, prayer and good luck.
Dont heat the bolt hot enough to change color, just heat enough to easily melt wax. If the wax smokes and burns, your to hot and the wax is burning rather than wicking into the threads/hole.
I imagine a full bottle of Irish Cream may be of benefit for the operator on stubborn fasteners LOL
