I used a Jeep column that had a commutator for the horn. Thanks Manny for the advice. Anyway, a minute's work on the lathe made the taper match, then a couple minutes on the mill made a keyway.
Anyway, I still have the Jeep wheel, and the old Dodge box/shaft. Looks like just as simple to do the reverse mod, making the Dodge shaft fit the Jeep wheel. Not to run the Jeep wheel, but to use an aftermarket wheel to fit the Jeep. There must be a wide range of wheels or adapters to fit the Jeep shaft?
The last time I fit an aftermarket wheel, the first ting was to install an adapter to the shaft, then bolt on a wheel from a long list of specs and styles. A Dodge adapter would be easily produced in you local machine shop. I think I'll go wheel shopping...
