I made a one piece windshield for my Bandit.
First and foremost !! Measure and measure again exactly where the windshield sits when normally attached with the hinges etc. I cant stress the importance of locating the windshield by measurements. You will be welding on the windshield when done. If its not located perfectly, you will NEVER get the Arctic Top front screws into the drilled and tapped holes in the windshield frame. With that said;
I removed all hinges, vacuum tube, windshield hold open clamps. All I had was a open frame. I then welded up all the holes from the removed items. Now you need to create a piece of steel equal to a pinch weld so the windshield glass gasket has a place to fasten to the windshield frame. I used .125" flat stock.
Its actually two pieces. Center bottom to center top Both right and left. The corners are radiuses in gentle curves so the windshield gasket does not punch up.
Then centered in the windshield frame I welded in the .125" simulated pinch weld.
Now with a completed frame, use your past measurements to EXACTLY locate the frame back on the cowl. Get it absolutely square and plumb. Measure many times, take a break, come back and measure again.The windshield frame is finally welded to the cowl. Go slow, skip around in welding, dont build up heat or you will warp the cowl. You may want to go one step further and install cowl mounted
electric wiper motors as seen in the picture.
You can not believe the visibility out the windshield compared to the opening contraption you removed.

Scroll down the albums to M37 Bandit.
Pictures 67 thru 70 show the windshield.
You can also check out the custom dash and defrosters in that album.
I built a lot of custom stuff into my M37. Check out the entire album. If you see something that catches your eye, ask here, email me or we can do a phone call, I will help you.
