The transfer case from my 48 B-1 was taken out and rebuilt this week. Thank goodness that I had a spare for parts. The area where the needle bearings sit on the driven shaft was buggered up like a washboard on both driven shafts. I think that this may have been the excessive noise. Has anyone experienced this problem? What caused the problem to happen? Was it an improper shim pack thickness or low oil? Prevention? I will be putting the case back in the next few days and I am hoping that the excessive noise will be gone, otherwise I guess the rear pumpkin will be out next.
