If you are going to run the truck hard with a V8 and big tires, you will have the same problem again. These are old trucks and the drive train was never designed to run anything more than a 6 cylinder.
A local guy has replaced the stock units with Dana 60's. These can be made to handle just about anything, but again, it's a matter of money.
One of the T.V. guys even put a set of 2 1/2 ton Rockwells under an old Dodge. But, I'd just realize the limitations of a 70 year old design and enjoy the truck within its capabilities.
The whole truck was a 40's or earlier design. That was the cheapest and quickest way to get the truck into production for the boys who had returned from the war.
