Yes, at least on the early Power-Wagons. The screen filter on the pump kept the "big stuff" from getting into the pump and disabling the valves. The filter in the Carter filter at the carburetor filtered out the small particles that would clog up the jets, etc.
Later Power-Wagons had different fuel pumps without glass bowls and had a filter screen underneath a round metal cover.
This is what I have seen, maybe others have seen different setups. A lot of trucks often had replacement parts, etc that were different from what came from the factory.
