I have run studless tires since the second year I lived here in Idaho. (39 years) Sipeing the tires has always been the best thing for me. There was a tire Goodyear made for a few years, called F32 Winter Radial, that was made of a real soft rubber and came factory siped. They were fantastic on the ice. My wife's and my daughters Hondas both have studless tires. Both cars perform very well in the snow and ice.
