I was just 6 years old, but I remember where I was and what I was doing when I heard the news. Two of the sailors were from my hometown. My dad and grandpa both sailed with the Hanna Company on the Humphrey, and I'm sure that if we would have stayed in Ashtabula, I would have done the same.
