Tim,
From Wikipeadia: "The Jeeps used were 1953 military M38 or civil CJ2A Willys Jeeps and also WW2 Ford GPWs and Willys Mbs. Two of the ambulances were WC-54 Dodges and one was a WC-27. A WC-54 ambulance remains at the site and was burned in the Malibu fires[when?] while a second WC-27 survives at a El Monte, CA museum without any markings. The bus used to transport the wounded was an early-1950s Ford model. In the last season an M43 ambulance from the Korean War era also was used in conjunction with the WC-54s and WC-27."
We get plenty of re-runs. The opening scene of every M*A*S*H I ever saw included a WC27.
The M37 series was fielded to the Army close to the signing of the truce. In fact brand new M43's were massed to transport repatriated POW's. I have often wondered if the military mentality involving the display of the newest world-ending weapons ("Projection of Power") was applied in that action. "You guys better give up or we'll create traffic gridlock with all these ambulances.
A while back there was a TV show that visited the location where M*A*S*H was filmed and the showed the remains of the burned WC54 and a "JEEP". I cannot find the reference but I once had the coordinates for the site and was able to explore using Google Earth.
Do you suppose the WC54 for sale is the burned one from M*A*S*H?
