These deer are like rats. They breed like rabbits and eat anything. They carry diseases that can kill you. So we are always trying to keep them away from our houses.
I built a decorative wooden fence out of 6" by 6" posts, and 2" by 2" lumber, with openings about a foot square, about 7 feet high, and a deer sort of climbed up one side and then jumped down on the other. There was a lot of leg work, and scrambling and snorting, but he made it over.
Another time, same fence, and pair of fawns slithered right through one of the 1-foot square openings, with Mommy Deerest encouraging them. They went and hid in the high grass along the fence line.
Mom went off for a day of grazing, and when dusk came, she went over the the fence, stamped her front foot, and made a weird snorting noise. The children came right over to the fence, and slithered back out.
The next day, I had to put chicken wire along the bottom three feet of the fence.
