Identifying the engines is going to be very hard, if possible. The CPL and Serial number, both used to ID the engine is on the Data Tag.
Assumption is dangerous ! However, if we assume that the Injection Pumps currently on the engines are original, then send me ALL the numbers on both IP's Id Tags. I 'May' be able to work backwards in my book and determine at least what engines those pumps were used on.
You can also look on the rear of the Block right below the head. If the engine is a Cummins Recon, sometimes the serial number was stamped there during recon.
Other than the above, I really dont know any way to 'truly' ID them.
