Jerry... I was out in the Payette as a Dozer Stike Team Leader on a fire back in 01,or 02, can't remeber what year. I was working ahed of the machines, like a mile or two. I had a partner who was supposed to be working behind me. He decided to get a late start and stayed back at the truck, and left about a thousend feet between us. All this unbeknownst to me, I thought he was behind me the whole time. I turned to speak to him after walking for what seemed a good half hour. Much to my surprize, that was what was behind me. For how long I don't know. But that big cat, I trully felt, was making a decision if I was going to be diner or not. An Indian that I worked with before (Moscolaro) told me if I ever encountered one, to hoot and holler and throw things at it to make it go away. Needless to say, I am still here because I did just that. The cat wasn't as big, but intimidating to say the least. Put it's ears back and ran away. If I started singing, it would have eaten me right then and there and done the world a favor!
