Go ahead and change fluids. If the gas itself smells, siphon it out and pour it into your daily driver, newer vehicle will not stink. Or at least burn it up faster. Inspect it for water globs in the bottom, don't pour those in.
Silicone works on head bolts, or Permatex Form-a-Gasket, the dark gooey stuff. F-a-G was the standard of the industry for a gazillion years. That and Indian Head Gasket Shellac. Hmm, shellac is ethanol based. Seal probs due to newer gas? But mostly used on paper gaskets to prevent porosity.
