Depending on what the part is I use zinc based epoxy for a base on everything except exposed body metal . this means the frame , all brackets , inside of doors ,under the dash , bottom of the cab . Price wise it is 1/3 the cost of PPG . For top coat I have used several different urethanes that last for ages . The best was international but the last time I worked with their mix was 20 years ago . I just used my last can of one step epoxy . I found a case of the stuff on the side of the road when I was a kid , must have been 40 years ago . Took me hours walking from the case to my parents house to carry the cans . Not sure what brand of paint was but the paint has been on the frame of my trash truck for ten years and is still shiny .
Good quality paint will pay off in the long run . Does not mean you have to pay through the nose to get it .
