trailer mismatch?

The link is for a M101 trailer posted on ebay. The trailer has the Budd wheels which is from the first design I believe, but then it is listed as having a surge brake system which was for the A-2? model which had a different wheel/bolt pattern?
Am I missing something, or do these really exist in an original manner?
It would be nice to have a military trailer with the old look for our M37's to pull but also with surge brakes rather than nothing, it seems to me. But I think this may be a cobble job.
