NP540 to 360

Finally starting to mate the NP 540 up to a Dodge 360 truck engine. Seems that the cast iron bellhousing will not slide between the flywheel and the block. Thought about replacing the flywheel with something else but its externally balanced. Got the PN for the pressure plate and disc. Am I missing something simple?
