But since Rzeppa died 45 years ago, my friend's memory might be getting foggy.
I have seen a couple busted B/W joints. They split right up the center of the shaft, where they are drilled for the pin that retains ball #5. Sharp turn under max traction will do it, broke one making a u-turn against a bank. Took the knuckle housing with it,though we did drive it home.
Fixing it, washing the parts in gasoline, on a cold, dry day, I must have made a jerky hand motion, the back of one finger bumped the edge of the knuckle housing. No blood, no bruise, but it hurt so bad that just thinking about it now, 35 years later, makes me cringe. I remember sciatica pain, and a compression fracture of a vertebra. And learned that you can't out run ear ache pain- I tried! But that finger bonk is one memory I can do without...
