Scott,
1953 was the first year of the B-4's.
I forgot to mention to crank out the windshield and check the bottom half of the wind shield frame. Glad you did.
EITHER GET A BATTERY, OR TELL HIM TO GET ONE.
If it does run, not having a $60.00 battery is flimsy excuse. Makes me wonder if it runs. -All the glass is straight and is easy to replace.
-Floor boards are usually easy to get and Dennis Sherman, one of the PW Guru, makes floor boards. The PW floors are in sections, so they are easy to replace.
-ORIGINAL BEDS AND TAILGATES ARE RARE!!!! Ones in straight, good condition are VERY PRICEY. A bed can cost several grand.
-How bad is the cab rust? Can be fixed without much work? ie, cutting off the bottom half and using a second cabs bottom.
-Good fenders and straight running boards are also rare. Many trucks are flat beds with no running boards or just the front running board section.
If that truck runs, and the cab rust is fixable, $4000.00 is in my estimate a very good price.
-Pto's are available here and on ebay for approx $100.00 and a full winch setup is from $900 and up.
-Someone on the forum had several winches for $900, with bumpers and extensions just a few weeks ago.
Hope this helps.
Mark
Don't take the sellers word that it runs. Get it running.
