I had a M37,which has about the same road performance as the PW's. Figure top speed under 45mph w/o hurting the engine. Yes you can regear to 4.89 but the engine lacks the hp to get you to a higher mph.
Bolt in engine Chrylser swaps (Chevy soon) are available - and they look good. The Helitool kits won't ruin your truck in case you decide to swap back to the flathead engine in the future. They have a website at www.helitool.com. Cost is under $350. I have no personal experience w/ the kits.
BTW: Helitool has a great disc brake kit too based on Tim Peterson's idea. The disc brake kit is excellant. Check out the M37 board at www.bigelectric.com for more info on it.
