Why not, the military in Europe has done it for years. All original tires on my M601 were recaps from the 70's. Also 6 year lifespan doesn't apply to general service in Oz - if your tires are lucky enough to last that long. Main thing is to protect them from UV radiation and they will last many years until worn out.
